The Astrology of Identity & Character

The Astrology of Identity & Character

We explore gifts from the ancient world—what we may call psychology and ethics.  How did pre-modern psychology apply to people and their lives?

Enduring concepts from India and the West also shed light on the interplay of necessity and solar will, temperament and bodily manifestations. We will look at character and being a character, living a fulfilled and creative life with “the cards we’re dealt with.”   (Where did these “cards” come from, anyway?)

How do we apply these ideas to natal astrology? Join us and find out.

Description

Instructors: Enid Newberg & Joseph Crane
Day: Monday, beginning January 20, 2024
Time: 5:00 – 7:00 PM Pacific Time
Course Length: 6 weeks – all live sessions are recorded

Drawing on core material from the ancient world, we look at body and mind, animating breath and life force, and how we have an identity that reveals itself to others and lives in the larger world.

Through six weeks of live meetings, using a course site to continue the conversations, students will understand how astrology incorporates these concepts. This enlivens and deepens astrological interpretation.

Weekly Topics:

This course is divided into five meetings on the ancient world and a sixth on the modern.

  1. The Luminaries and Matters of Life and Death
  2. Planetary Ascent and Descent, Fall and Redemption/Recovery
  3. Body and Soul, Temperament and Character
  4. Flourishing in the Larger World
  5. Astrology’s Ego and Self in the Modern Age

Our emphasis: engage in meaningful conversation; enjoy deeper exploration; and give astrologers additional tools for meaningful interpretation.

Grading:

This course is pass/no credit. To successfully complete this course (for example, you want to apply it toward the Certificate Diploma), students will be expected to:

  1. Attend in person at least 3 of the 6 live meetings
  2. Respond to 4 of the 5 weeks of discussion forums and respond to at least one other person’s post per week.
  3. Practice applying the concepts to yourselves and others using astrology
