In this five-week course, students will:

  • Understand the method of dividing up time into useful time periods for study
  • Acquire experience in several methods of assessing the outlines of particular years and likely events
  • Critically examine whether a time period is likely to produce significant events

 

Weekly Topics:

1.  The Planets, Signs and Houses in Mundane Astrology

  • Experience the basic astrological model for working with mundane charts
  • Identify the key questions that mundane can address
  • Create a rubric for the examination of mundane questions
  • Begin to examine how astronomy impacts mundane interpretation

 

2.  Eclipses and Lunations in Mundane Astrology

  • Adjust the rubric you began to study last week as you now compare Aries Ingresses to eclipses
  • Begin to consider the different time periods encompassed by mundane methods
  • Consider the interpretive differences introduced by irregular eclipse periods based on the nodal cycle

 

3.  Great Conjunctions and Ingresses

  • Practice expanding the time period of study by examining past Jupiter-Saturn and Mars-Saturn periods
  • Experience how to integrate shorter time periods with the longer Jupiter-Saturn periods
  • Learn to adjust expectations according to the time period length

 

4.  The Founding Charts of Mundane Entities

  • Contrast ancient and modern ideas about mundane astrology
  • Examine the reasoning behind greater 20th century emphasis on the charts of countries

 

5.  Charts of Rulers vs. Charts of Countries

  • Study the historical context of the comparison between charts of countries and charts of rulers
  • Evaluate the use of natal methods for studying the impact of decision makers on mundane events

Pre-requisites:

Fundamental astrological knowledge of planets, signs, houses, essential dignity and debility.
